Al Terzi is an American news anchor (specializing in politics). He currently works for WTIC-TV (Fox61 station in Hartford) and is considered “the Dean of Connecticut news anchors.” Al has won two Emmy awards since his comeback to Channel 3. At first, he won a series of specials on the UConn Huskies basketball team, Later, he won the ” Best Newscast.” award. In addition, he is a strong and active member of the Society of Professional Journalists.

He started his career in June 1968 at WTIC/WTIC-FM/WTIC-TV where he worked as a staff announcer. Al remained a newscaster and talk show host even after Washington Post bought the station in 1973. When New England Journal, a one-hour daily talk show started in 1974, he was the original host. Al graduated from being a news co-anchor to News Anchor, and finally News Director, at WPEC-TV12 (ABC) in West Palm Beach, FL.
From April 1980 to January 1994, Al was working as a prime anchor at WTNH-TV8 (ABC) in New Haven, CT before returning to Channel 3. Later, His colleague Janet Peckinpaugh complained about sexual harassment while working with Al at WTNH. As a result, Peckinpaugh was fired from WFSB but sued the WFSB boss. The court made allegations against Al and Peckinpaugh was paid some million dollars.
Later, the two settled their issues out of court. Since Al and WFSB management could not agree on a new contract on February 24, 2012, he left WFSB as an evening anchor. On July 8, 2012, Al joined the FOX CT anchor team. In March 2014, Al retired from the anchor desk but continued to host the political show.“The Real Story,” with Fox CT’s Laurie Perez.
Al also went on with his Sunday morning show and his teaching at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting. He would also continue exploring teaching jobs in colleges and universities around. Al has been co-anchoring the 5 p.m.WTIC-TV newscast with Alison Morris since it was set in motion back in January 2013.
