Adam Liptak is an American lawyer and an instructor in law and journalism. He currently serves as the Supreme Court correspondent for The New York Times. Adam has written for a number of papers including Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, The New York Observer, Rolling Stone, Business Week, among other publications. In 2009, Adam was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Journalism for a series of articles he wrote that examined ways in which the American legal system differs from those of other developed nations.

Apart from his clerical work and fetching coffee while a student at Yale University, Adam also assisted the reporter M. A. Farber in covering the trial of a libel suit brought by General William Westmoreland against CBS. During law school, Adam served as a summer clerk in The New York Times Company’s legal department. After his graduation, he spent four years working at Cahill Gordon & Reindel, a New York City law firm. There, Adam was a litigation associate specializing in First Amendment matters.
