Out of Georgia Tech, he was appointed by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the 1992 NBA draft but did not sign the contract and sat out the season.

Jon joined the Milwaukee Bucks who completed last, tied for last, and also 2nd to last in their division during his first three years in the NBA.
