Willie McGinest (full name: William Lee McGinest Jr.) is a former American football linebacker player. He has played 15 seasons in the National Football League. He was later drafted by the New England Patriots fourth overall in the 1994 NFL Draft. This was after playing college football at USC Trojans where he wore the number 55. Willie was one of the cornerstones for New England’s success in winning the Super Bowl in 2001, 2003, and 2004.
Willie signed with the Cleveland Brown on March 15, 2006. As a result of this move, he was reunited with head coach Romeo Crennel, who was the Patriots’ defensive coordinator during his stint in New England. In an interview prior to the 2008 season, Willie stated that he would be playing his final year of professional football before retiring in the offseason. In 2009, Willie stated that he would like to end his career with the Patriots. He signed a one-day contract with the Patriots during his Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony on August 5, 2015.
After his retirement, Willie joined the NFL Network as a football analyst, where he appears on various programs, including NFL Total Access. Before joining the Nfl network, he served similar roles at Fox Sports and also at ESPN. Willie has made cameo appearances in television shows such as Arli$$ and The Game. He also had a small role as a detective in the film I Tried, with rap group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. Additionally, he appeared in the Disney XD show Lab Rats & Scorpion as himself.

He was a Lombardi Award finalist and earned All-American and All-Pac-10 Conference honors during his final year.
