Walter Mondale ( Full name Walter Frederick “Fritz” Mondale ) was an American politician. Mondale became the forty-second Vice President of the United States and served between 1977 to 1981 under President Jimmy Carter. He was also elected as the United States Senator from Minnesota for two terms. In 1984, Mondale was the Democratic Party nominee for the US presidency with Geraldine Ferraro as his vice presidential nominee. Ferraro was the first woman to be nominated for such a high position.
Mondale got a majority of votes in Minnesota only and the District of Columbia and unfortunately lost the election to Ronald Reagan who won the other 49 states. Mondale was the first USA Vice President to have an active office. He even made the role of a USA Vice President more important than before.
