Tony Laubach is an American meteorologist and storm chaser. He has taken part in a number of field research projects. Tony is among the surviving members of TWISTEX. He has been engaged as a severe weather photojournalist for different major tv networks. The journalist has also starred in several television shows, such as Storm Chasers Seasons 3 through 5 on the Discovery Channel.
Tony serves as a field Meteorologist and storm chaser for AccuWeather. He joined the network on June 7, 2021, after he witnessed a tornado from their new house the day they closed. Tony aired the Sycamore, IL tornado live on August 9 in northern Illinois on the network in the middle of a tornado outbreak.
Prior to joining his current network, Tony served as a weekend morning meteorologist as well as a storm chaser for KAKE-TV in Wichita, Kansas. He worked there from March 19, 2018, and left the network a week later on March 25. On March 25, 2021, Tony made an announcement via his Facebook page that he would leave KAKE with his last day being May 2.
Before he joined KAKE, the storm chaser served as a meteorologist and the “Weather Warrior” for WSIL-TV based in Carterville, Illinois for almost 5 years. He worked there from July 31, 2013, until March 11, 2018. Previously, Tony was a primary storm chaser and weather producer at KMGH, 7News based in Denver, Colorado.

While at WSIL, he created and also produced a nine-part segment called “Weather Warrior Wednesday” broadcasting every Wednesday from May 3 to July 8, 2015. The weekly package detailed his storm chasing and was produced from the field. In 2016, the storm chaser did a second season of the “Weather Warrior” segment which aired from May 4 to July 13. Tony debuted as a broadcast meteorologist in August 2016 filling in to do weathercasts on weekend mornings. On September 3, 2017, he become a full-time weekend meteorologist. The journalist came up with another storm-chasing segment called “Storm Story Sunday”. It aired every Sunday for his tenure as the full-time weekend meteorologist featuring highlights of his storm-chasing career. Tony’s final “Storm Story Sunday” aired on March 4, 2018. The segment included his official announcement of leaving WSIL to pursue his career in Kansas.
In KMGH 7News’s 2011 tv news special called “Tracking Twisters,” Tony was the contributing producer, videographer, and featured talent.
