Todd Herman is an American digital political strategist, radio show host, and public speaker. He served as the president and chief evangelizing officer of theDial ( initially called TheDial.com), a start-up Internet radio company. Formerly, the company was based in Salt Lake City prior to moving to Seattle in 1999, when it had 22 staff members.
Later, the company was ultimately acquired by Loudeye. Then, Todd became part of Microsoft’s MSN where he was involved in the creation of its MSN Video business unit. At MSNBC.com, he held the position of Streaming Media Evangelist and then General Manager, Media Strategy, and finally Monetization for MSN. In September 2007, Todd left Microsoft.
He became the founder and chief creative officer for a software add-on designed called SpinSpotter, to detect ” lack of balance, selective disclosure, disregarded context, biased source, passive voice, personal voice, and over-reliance on news releases” in journalism. In 2008, the company had 14 employees. After leaving Microsoft, Todd was hired as Director of New Media for the Republican National Committee (RNC) in March 2009. He took up the job the following month.
