Before he started practicing yoga, Yim was already into working his body. From approximately six to sixteen years, he was a competitive swimmer and at around his seventeenth year, he fell in love with dancing.

After he finished his training in dance and choreography, he wanted to go to New York to study and work in the legendary mecca of art. Tim’s hero, friend and mentor, David Zambrano, invited him to Caracas to join his Festival de Danza Post Moderna. While exploring the grand Avila mountains outside of Caracas with some friends, Tim, unfortunately, slid off a ridge. The accident led to a few broken bones, shattered joints, snapped muscles, scratches, and bruises.
It took him two years to get back on his feet and back on stage in New York. After his return, a friend took him to the pre-hipsta Jivamukti Studio in East Village where he met Warrior IIIs next to Willem Dafoe, Joan Jett, and Baryshnikov’s dancers. It was hip and fun. Tim’s body, still recuperating, couldn’t get enough of this controlled, detailed set of healing. The opening and strengthening movements quickly became his main modality to ready himself for the hard, physical work in rehearsals.
After a few years of living choreographing and practicing this early Jivamukti style of asana by himself in Copenhagen, certified ashtanga teacher Lino Miele threw a workshop in the local Iyengar studio. Tim knew he had to study movements with this man who always talked about Guruji. Tim built up the courage to go meet this big spiritual ashtanga Guru in Mysore after r five years as Lino’sdevoted student. He has gone almost every year since.
Currently, Tim serves as the director of a yoga shala called Miami Life Center. Tim founded this Yoga centre with his wife Kino MacGregor and Matt Tashjian. Lino Miele set Tim on the yoga path as his first teacher. He is now Authorized to teach directly by the founder of the Ashtanga Yoga Method, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and his grandson, R. Sharath Jois. A practitioner of the Advanced A series Tim is dedicated to Ashtanga Yoga’s traditional method.
