Stephen Dubner is an American author, journalist, podcast, and radio host. Currently, he serves as the host of Freakonomics Radio and is the co-author of the popular Freakonomics book series. Stephen joined Freakonomics Radio in Greater New York City Area in April 2005.
He quit his first career as an almost-rock-star—to become a writer. He has worked for The New York Times and published three non-Freakonomics books.

Stephen met Steven Levitt, a professor of economics at the University of Chicago when his editor asked him to write a profile on Levitt for The New York Times Magazine. At the time, Stephen was writing a book on the psychology of money and didn’t have much interest in meeting Levitt. Upon meeting Levitt, Stephen extended the two-hour interview to three days.
After the publication of his 2003 Times Magazine article, Stephen and Levitt was asked to co-write a book, which cemented their partnership. In 2005, William Morrow published Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything. Freakonomics became translated into 40 languages and sold 5 million copies worldwide.
Stephen and Levitt co-authored three other books: SuperFreakonomics in 2009, Think Like a Freak in 2014, and When to Rob a Bank in 2015.
