Sharon Salzberg is an American meditation pioneer and industry leader, a world-renowned teacher, and a New York Times bestselling author. She co-founded the Insight Meditation Society at Barre, Massachusetts in 1974 alongside Jack Kornfield and Joseph Goldstein. Sharon’s emphasis is on vipassanā (insight) and mettā (loving-kindness) methods and has been leading meditation retreats around the globe for more than three decades. Both of these methods have their origins in the Theravada Buddhist tradition. She also runs a Metta Hour podcast and also contributes monthly to a column On Being.
