She disappeared from the newscast shortly after 5:30 Thursday night.. yes, in the middle of 90 minutes of news, Shae was having symptoms of a heart attack that began around 4 but was getting more consistent and intense during the 5 pm news. tightness in her jaw, throat, down the back of her neck, and her arms then tightness across her chest. They were all classic symptoms of a heart attack in women. Things she had learned through serving with the American Heart Association in Tulsa.
She let FOX23 Clay Loney and FOX23 Chief Meteorologist James Aydelott know that she wasn’t feeling well and their producers. Nathan Thompson FOX23 called 911 for her. Nathan and News Director Frank Volpicella waited with Shae for the ambulance. Luckily the EKG and bloodwork did not show a heart attack but they said with those symptoms, Shae absolutely did the right thing by coming in, getting checked out, and not taking chances, especially with a family history of heart disease.
She is grateful to be okay, grateful for my husband and daughter who were able to be with her grateful for supportive friends, coworkers, and viewers.
