Samantha Simmonds ( Full name Samantha Rose Simmonds) is an English television presenter, newsreader, and journalist who served as a news anchor for Sky News until July 2016. She earned a postgraduate diploma in broadcast journalism in 1995 from City University in London. After her graduation, Samantha went to work as a reporter for local radio in Yorkshire.
Later, the journalist moved to London where she served as a producer on Channel Five News. From there, Samantha joined BBC Breakfast where she spent two years working as a reporter and presenter for BBC London’s news programs. She then left BBC and joined Sky News in 2005.
Samantha became the first British journalist to break the story of Michael Jackson’s death while she worked for Sky News. However, as part of a cost-cutting exercise, Samantha along with several other anchors were let go by the network. Since 2017, the journalist has been presenting on BBC World News.
