Robin Arzon Bio | Wiki

Robin Arzona ( Full name: Robin Amelia Arzón) is an American ultramarathon runner and author. She authored a New York bestselling book titled  Shut Up and Run. Robin is also the VP of Fitness Programming and an Instructor at Peloton. She was taken hostage with 40 others in a wine bar in Manhattan’s East Village while an undergrad in the summer of 2002.

Robin and her friends were threatened with a barbecue lighter by a man who was allegedly armed with three pistols and a samurai sword. He shot three people and doused the group with kerosene. He grabbed Robin by the hair and held the gun and lighter to her head. This man was using her as a human shield to communicate with the police. Eventually, two patrons tackled the man, giving police the opportunity to enter the bar and subdue him. The trauma inspired  Rovin to start running for the first time in her life.

In 2003, a year after the incident, she saw a flyer for a 10K race at a bank on a Friday afternoon. Robin spontaneously decided to join the run the following morning. This 10K would be her very first race and the first athletic endeavor of her life. “I had no idea how far the 10km distance was in miles,” Robin said of the whim. In 2015, Robin became one of 20 elite Americans to trek the Serengeti in National Geographic Channel’s, MYGRATIONS.

The series aired in 2016 and showed 20 people trekking the journey of the annual wildebeest migration that occurs every spring from the Serengeti Plains to Maasai Mara in Kenya. The cast members were formed of survivalists and athletes. They had no maps or weapons and carried only food and water. Curently, Robin is a global Adidas ambassador. In 2016, she starred in their Here to Create campaign commercial. Also, she is a Road Runners Club of America-certified running coach.
