Robert Soros (Full Name: Robert Daniel Soros ) is a popular American investor who is the founder of Soros Capital Management, a family office based in New York. He is also the founder of the Central European University in Budapest and a network of foundations in Eastern Europe. Previously, Robert worked as the deputy chairman and president of his father’s firm, Soros Fund Management, until June 2017.
In 2004, Robert became chief investment officer, sharing an equal title with his younger brother Jonathan Soros. He stepped down from the role in 2006 but became appointed president and deputy chairman. In 2017, he stepped down from these roles to start his own firm but retained an equity stake in Soros Fund Management.
