Rob Wolchek Fox 2
He took a job as a full-time reporter at KGET-TV in Bakersfield shortly after leaving Los Angeles. Rob had to shoot his own stories, produce, write, edit as well as report them too thus the pay was horrible. But, he will convince his wife to move from the glamour of Los Angeles to the sticks of Bakersfield with the promise that someday he would be a great reporter, so he had to grind it out for three long years.
Later on, Rob went to KJEO-TV in Fresno. In the first week, he was there, he was sent on a story about a special park made for disabled children that had been burned to the ground by arsonists. Rob was really moved by the story and angry with the hoodlums that torched a place that meant so much to kids who’d already had been dealt a tough hand.
His stories began a drive to rebuild the park and he got a special award from the city of Fresno. Suddenly, Rob got a reputation as an advocate for the people. He was soon dubbed the ‘Scambuster’ because he went after the bad guys who ripped off and cheated on everybody. Rob won his first Emmy in Fresno due to’Scambusting.’
He came to Fox 2 in 1997. Since then, Rob continued to hunt down scam artists and has been lucky enough to win 25 more Emmy awards.
