Rob Mayeda is an American Meteorologist. He currently serves as a weather forecaster for NBC Bay Area. Rob became part of the channel’s weather teas in 2003. At the station, he provides weekend forecasts and also contributes to weekday weather coverage for the channel. Also, Rob was nominated for another Emmy as a segment producer for “From Dreams To Dust,” in 2008. The documentary was about World War II’s Japanese American internment camps.
Before returning to California and working for KNTV, Rob worked as a weekday weather anchor for KIRO-TV based in Seattle, Washington for a period of two years. Recently, Rob was assigned to weekend morning and evening newscasts while still working on news special projects. His work as a videographer/producer was aired on NBC Bay Area for “On Thin Ice.”
This was a climate change special that focused on Alaska’s melting glaciers. In October 2011, the show won the American Meteorological Society award for its excellence in Science Reporting. In 2011, Rob won his second Emmy award from the Northern California National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for “On-Camera Talent Anchor: Weather.” Currently, Rob holds the American Meteorological Society seal of approval.

At first, was hired to work as a production associate for the ABC network news bureau. Rob was assigned to work on the network’s various news magazine shows including Primetime Live, 20/20, and Turning Point. However, Rob returned to KNBC as an editorial assistant and later joined the special news projects department where he worked with the team for the production of Channel 4 News’ O. J. Simpson: The Trial.
The daily broadcast made a follow-up to the O. J. Simpson case from the start of the trial until the eventual verdict. The program aired on KNBC and CNBC as well. It featured prominent local attorneys “legal analysts” who gave opinions on the daily events in court. Later, Rob was hired by KESQ in Palm Desert, California. There, he served as a weekend weather anchor and eventually became a morning weather anchor once KESQ started its weekday morning newscast.
For less than two years later, Rob joined KSBY based in San Luis Obispo, California as a weekend weather anchor and news reporter as well. Rob took on the same role for KCRA in Sacramento, California in 1997. He won an Emmy award in 2002 from the Northern California National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for “On-Camera News: Weather”.
