Richard Fuld (Full Name: Richard Severin Fuld Jr.) is a popular American banker who is currently a strategic advisor at Oasis Pro Markets since 2022. He is also the founder and CEO of Matrix Private Capital Group, a diversified asset management firm created in 2016. He is well known as the final chairman and chief executive officer of the investment bank Lehman Brothers. Richard held this role from the firm’s 1994 spinoff from American Express until 2008.
On September 15, 2008, Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11 and later reported the sale of major operations to parties such as Barclays Bank and Nomura Securities. Richard was named in Time’s “25 People to Blame for the Financial Crisis” list and in CNN’s “Ten Most Wanted: Culprits of the Collapse”. He was nicknamed “the gorilla” due to his intimidating presence. Richard’s first profession as an Air Force pilot came to an end when he got into a fistfight with a commanding officer. He stated he had been defending a young cadet who was being taunted by the senior officer.
