Richard Clarida ( Full Name: Richard Harris Clarida) is a popular American economist who works as a managing director and Global Economic Advisor at PIMCO since October 2022. From 2006 until 2018, Richard worked as a global strategic advisor with PIMCO. He is also the C. Lowell Harriss Professor of Economics and International Affairs at Columbia University. Previously, Richard worked as the 21st Vice Chair of the Federal Reserve from 2018 until 2022.
He resigned from his post on January 14, 2022, to return from public service leave to tutor at Columbia University for the spring term of 2022. Richard is recognized for his contributions to dynamic stochastic general equilibrium theory and international monetary economics. He is a retired Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy and is a recipient of the Treasury Medal.
