Rhett Akins (Full name: Thomas Rhett Akins Jr. ) is an American songwriter and country music singer-songwriter. So far, Rhett has released five studio albums for Big Machine Records’ Valory Music imprint. In 2013, he released an album titled. It Goes Like This, Tangled Up came out in 2015), in 2017, Rhett released another album titled Life Changes, Center Point Road came out in 2019, and Country Again: Side A is the newly released album of 2021.
Rhett has received four Grammy Award nominations. His two albums were nominated for Best Country Album twice in 2017 and 2019. He was born to his mother Pamela LaHood and his father on October 13, 1969, in Origin Valdosta, Georgia, United States of America. Thoma’s grandfather George LaHood originated from Lebanon. At the age of 11 years old, he and his two younger brothers formed a band. Thomas was signed to Decca Records between 1994 and 1997.
He released two albums for that label (1995’s A Thousand Memories and 1996’s Somebody New). The two albums were followed by 1998’s What Livin’s All About on MCA Nashville. Rhett’s Friday Night in Dixie was released on Audium Entertainment in 2002. Overall, his albums have accounted for fourteen singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs. Among them is the number one “Don’t Get Me Started” from 1996.
Although Thomas has not charted a single since 2006, he has written singles for other country music singers.
