Rachelle Murcia is an American anchor and reporter. She currently serves as a newscast for both KBAK (a CBS-affiliated tv station) in Bakersfield, California, United States and KBFX. From the Las Vegas desert, Rachelle joined the KOMO 4 News team in Seattle, Washington, and worked there for nearly seven years.
While she started as the morning reporter and fill-in news anchor for the ABC affiliate, Rachelle transitioned later to the traffic anchor, she guided drivers through the congested morning commute as she continued to report on the news. Rachelle worked for KGET as the 6 p.m. anchor for a period of four years before joining the KBAK/KBFX news team. Rachelle has been honored with a nomination for many Emmy awards, including her reports on Honor Flight Kern County.

The fire spread all over the land for the nuclear power plant where toxic waste was kept. It was the first story Rachelle covered that captured national attention. There she was, running her own camera while rubbing elbows with national correspondents from every network, who were all covering the story.

In 2011, Rachelle and her husband moved to Bakersfield to be closer to family. Ley is a Driller who graduated from Bakersfield High School. His family (parents and sister) now live in Frasier Park. She was going home to Indiana, so Rachelle waited until she got back to California to make an appointment for her first-ever mammogram and ultrasound. Her appointment was on January 9th, 2020 at 8:00 in the morning. That day at 4:30 in the afternoon, as she was getting ready to anchor the show, her cell phone rang. The voice on the line said, “Hello Rachelle. This is Dr. Ravi Patel. What are you doing?”
Rachelle told him she was getting ready to do the shows. He said she needed to drop everything and come see him right away. Her doctors found two large masses on Rachelle’s left side. They call it late-stage two, early-stage three breast cancer. She had biopsies done and the good news was that cancer did not appear to have spread anywhere else. However, the bad news was that this was an aggressive form of cancer. So, the doctor was supposed to treat it aggressively.
That is why Rachelle her viewers that she knows she is not the first person to have cancer. But, since her viewers see her every weeknight, Rachelle could not ignore the elephant in the room. She told her viewers to be ready for some changes in her such as losing her hair, all of it, her eyebrows, and her eyelashes as well
