Pat McGrath ( Full name: Dame Patricia Ann McGrath DBE) is a British make-up artist. Vogue magazine and other commentators have named her the most influential make-up artist in the world. Pat was included in Time’s 100 most influential people list in 2019. She became the first make-up artist to be made a British dame.
Her first breakthrough occurred in the early 1990s while she was working alongside Edward Enninful at the i-D magazine. Pat continued to work as a receptionist to support herself financially. She was hired by Giorgio Armani in 1999 to collaborate on a new range of cosmetics. Pat became the recipient of the Pantene Pro-V Make-Up Artist Of The Year Award in both 2000 & 2001.
In the 2014 New Year Honours for services to the fashion and beauty industry, Pat was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) In 2004, ten years prior, Pat was hired as Global Cosmetics Creative Design Director by Procter & Gamble in a multi-year partnership that was rumored to be paid at $1 million.
