Mike Reiss is an American sportscaster currently working at ESPN as a New England Patriots reporter. He joined the channel in September 2009. At the station, he reports on the Patriots for all ESPN platforms, regularly making television appearances on SportsCenter and also NFL Live with his signature work coming on ESPN.com’s NFL Nation Patriots blog. Later on, he moved to MetroWest Daily News in Framingham, where he worked for six years. After leaving the station, Mike moved to Boston Globe, where he had been working before making the move to ESPN.
Before joining the Boston Globe, his willingness to embrace technology and think different from the norm enabled him to become one of the first reporters in the country to blog on an NFL team 365/24/7. In 2012, Mike made one of his most rewarding stories, when offensive lineman Matt Light retired and chose Mike to reveal that he played most of his career while battling Crohn’s Disease.
In 2015, he made a similar story when offensive lineman Nate Solder revealed a testicular cancer diagnosis to Mike, a reflection of the professional respect and trust built between player and reporter. Mike was recognized by the National Sports Media Association in 2019, when he was awarded the co-Massachusetts Sportswriter of the Year award.
