Mercedes dedicates a part of her reporting to social justice and equality issues concerning the BIPOC community. Over the summer of 2020 after George Floyd’s murder, Mercedes was out in the streets covering nearly every rally and demonstration. Marcedes also spearheaded coverage of an hour-long special on the one-year memorial of George Floyd’s death.
