Max Levchin (Full Name: Maksymilian Rafailovych Levchin) is a popular Ukrainian-American software engineer and businessman who is the co-founder and CEO of Affirm. Prior to Affirm launching in 2014, he cofounded PayPal, gaming company Slide, and fertility-tracking app Glow. He owns nearly 11% of Affirm. When it went public on January 13, 2021, the stock increased twice, bringing its market value to $24 billion. In 1998, Max co-founded the company that finally became PayPal.

He made contributions to PayPal’s anti-fraud efforts and worked as the co-creator of the Gausebeck-Levchin test, one of the first commercial implementations of a CAPTCHA challenge response human test.
