Matthew Paul Turner is an American author, accomplished photographer, journalist, and blogger. He launched his storied writing career almost two decades ago. Matthew has published a book every year. He has been called “one of Christianity’s fresh voices” by Publisher’s Weekly. His other notable works include Coffeehouse Gospel, Our Great Big American God, Churched, and The Christian Culture Survival Guide.
As a photographer, Matthew traveled around the world as he documents National Geographic’s “The Story of God with Morgan Freeman”. He has traveled extensively with World Vision over the past decade to places such as Uganda; Cochabamba, Tacloban, Philippines; Entebbe, Bolivia; Gyumri, Armenia, as well as other locations as he documents the vast effects of poverty as well as the humanitarian efforts of the non-profit. Mark is the senior and founding pastor of the Trinity Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. He founded the church in 2016. Mark had formed Mars Hill Church in Seattle, Washington in 1996. Mars Hill Church had 14,000 members in five states and fifteen locations as of March 2014. He founded a theological cooperative called The Resurgence.

Although he has written nearly a dozen books for adults, Matthew is best known for his children’s titles such as When I Pray for You which became a 2019 best-selling children’s book. Most of his books are written in second person. After coming out as gay, Matthew received support from his publisher, Convergent, and also expressed gratitude for the kindness of many others across the industry.
He stated that he started receiving a plethora of text messages from industry friends as soon as he pushed a ‘post’ on his coming-out announcement. They told him how much they loved him and supported him reminding him how proud they are of him gathering the courage to let the public know about his sexual orientation. However, Matthew says that he has experienced some loss in certain areas of the Christian publishing industry as well.
