Matt Cardona ( Full name: Matthew Brett Cardona) is an American professional wrestler. He is currently signed to Impact Wrestling and is the current Impact Digital Media Champion in his first reign. Also, Matt is in the National Wrestling Alliance as its current NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion in his first reign.
Matt holds several championships in different independent promotions. His self-promoted Internet Championship is in its second reign. Matt is best known for his time in WWE. While there, he performed from 2005 to 2020 under the ring name Zack Ryder. Matt debuted in professional wrestling in 2004. He teamed with Curt Hawkins on the independent circuit. BothMatt and Curt were signed by WWE the following year. This made their main roster debuts in 2007.

Matt Cardona Vs Nick Gage
GCW held its Zombie Walk show on June 6, 2021, at the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. A hooded figure entered the ring after Nick Gage’s match with Jimmy Lloyd for the GCW World Championship which ended in a no contest. However, the figure flailed its limbs around and performed a double underhook DDT on Gage. This led fans in attendance to believe it was Jon Moxley. After the hooded figure was unmasked, it was revealed to be Matt.
Before his confrontation, Matt had called out Gage for weeks via social media. Gage attempted to attack Matt at a live podcast event. Matt challenged Gage for the title at night one of GCW Homecoming. The fight took place on July 24, 2021, at the Showboat Hotel. At the event, Matt defeated Gage in a Deathmatch to win the title. This marked his first-ever world championship in any promotion.

He started to work with Impact Wrestling in a similar limited appearance deal after leaving AEW. Matt made his surprise debut at Hard To Kill on January 16, 2021, where he defeated Ace Austin by disqualification. He teamed with Josh Alexander on the January 26 episode of Impact! to defeat Austin and Madman Fulton. Soon after, Matt would start a feud with his former tag team partner named Brian Myers.
Matt and Eddie Edwards were defeated by Myers and Hernandez at No Surrender. He was defeated again by Myers in a singles match at Rebellion. The feud ended at Slammiversary, where Matt teamed up with Chelsea Green, his real-life fiancée to defeat Myers and Tenille Dashwood. Matt competed in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet match at Bound for Glory. In this match, he would be the runner-up in the match after being lastly eliminated by Moose.
Matt lost to W. Morrissey with the help of Moos at Turning Point. He pinned Moose in a tag team match on the December 2 episode of Impact!, thus earning him the Impact World Championship match at Hard To Kill. On January 8, 2022, Matt was unsuccessful in capturing the title in a three-way match in the event also involving Morrissey. He defeated Jordynne Grace on the February 3 episode of Impact! and won the Impact Digital Media Championship after hitting Grace with a steel chair, thus turning heel.
