Marcus Samuelsson is an Ethiopian-born Swedish-American celebrity restaurateur, chef, and television personality. He is the current head chef of Red Rooster in Harlem, New York. Marcus became executive chef of Aquavit and the age of 24. Soon afterward, he became the youngest ever to won a three-star restaurant review from The New York Times.
In 2003 the James Beard Foundation named Marcus “Best Chef: New York City. ” He started a second New York restaurant called Riingo in the same year that served Japanese-influenced American food. Currenlty, Marcus serves as a Visiting Professor of International Culinary Science at the Umeå University School of Restaurant and Culinary Arts in Sweden.

The cooking competition show called Chopped airs on on the Food Network Ted Allen serves as the show host. The show started airing on January 13, 2009. Chopped pits four chefs against each other to make a delicious three-course meal using mystery ingredients against the clock. The winner is awarded$10,000.
