Michael confirmed the sale of the estate in July 2020 following an earlier report by the Wall Street Journal. He represented the buyer but said he could not reveal any details because of a non-disclosure agreement. According to property records. Kevin had bought the estate in 2013 for $7.85 million. Roger Stevens, a successful real estate broker and Broadway theater producer rented the property for a while. Roger was the first chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The property was extensively redesigned and rebuilt by Baltimore-based designer Patrick Sutton and Annapolis-based Pyramid Builders. They included a $1 million staircase constructed with the same marble used for the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.
They also added a chef-grade gourmet kitchen, a whiskey and cigar room, a detached gym, and a heated lap pool. According to Rankin, the sale is a good sign for Washington’s luxury home market. “The Planks are a lovely family, easy to work with, and were terrific clients,” Rankin said. “It was really a terrific transaction” he added. The Covid-19 pandemic slowed the market in the last couple weeks of March and early April 2020, but it has since regained some momentum. Kevin used the home to host international guests. However, he decided to sell it because he was not using it as much as anticipated,
