Burke was diagnosed with abdominal problems and a glandular condition in 2007. She contracted the stomach bug at a Health Service hospital in London following an operation. She says that she did catch the bug because something else was seriously wrong with her. Burke had an operation and she was forced to take nearly a year off work after contracting C.difficile.
