In 2011 she charged the first Material Support of Terrorism case in the Northern District of Alabama.
She left the office on January 20, 2017, and was Preceded by Alice Martin and succeeded by Jay Town. Vance later joined The University of Alabama School of Law as a Distinguished Professor of Law from Practice.
