Joni Eareckson Tada is a radio host, an evangelical Christian author, and the founder of an organization called Joni and Friends, aimed at “accelerating Christian ministry in the disability community”. With the example of her parents, Joni, through her growing-up years lived a very active life. She enjoyed swimming, tennis, hiking, and riding horses.

Joni is the founder of Joni and Friends which was founded in 1979. The organization aims to “accelerate Christian ministry in the disability community” from every corner of the globe.  In 2007 the Disability Center for the ministry based in Agoura Hills, California, was established.
