Jonathan Ross (Full name: Jonathan Stephen Ross OBE) is an English writer, actor, comedian, film critic, broadcaster, and producer. He started his adult career as a researcher on the Channel 4 show called Loose Talk. He later left the show and went to work on various other shows before launching another research job on Soul Train, which later became Solid Soul.
It is believed that Jonathan’s first appearance on television was as an extra in 1981 It Ain’t Half Hot, Mum episode The Last Roll Call. He launched his television career by serving as a tv researcher. Later, Jonathan débuted as a presenter for The Last Resort with Jonathan in 1987 on Channel 4. He presented countless radio and television programs over the next decade, many through his own production company called Channel X.
Jonathan sold his stake in Channel X in 1995 and embarked on a career with the BBC. He took over from Barry Norman in presenting the Film program. Also, Jonathan started presenting his own radio show. Two years later, Jonathan started hosting Friday Night Show. For the chat show, he won three BAFTA awards in 2004, 2006, and 2007 for Best Entertainment Performance. By 2006, Jonathan was believed to be the BBC’s highest-paid star.
He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2005 for services to broadcasting. Throughout his broadcasting career, Jonathan has been involved in controversies. As a result, he wrote a semi-autobiographical work titled Why Do I Say These Things? in 2008. The book detailed some of his life experiences. Also, Jonathan has written his own comic books such as Turf and America’s Got Powers.
