John Goodman is an American actor. He gained national fame for his role as the family patriarch Dan Conner in the ABC comedy series Roseanne from 1988 to 1997, and 2018. John received a Golden Globe Award for the series.
He is known as a character actor and regular collaborator with the Coen brothers, starring in films such as Raising Arizona, Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and Inside Llewyn Davis. John Heilpern of Vanity Fair has called him “among our very finest actors.” IndieWire named him one of the best actors never to have received an Academy Award nomination.

John discovered the drama program and studied there with future Hollywood stars Kathleen Turner and Tess Harper. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1975.
