Joel Osteen ( Full name: Joel Scott Osteen ) is an American pastor, author, and televangelist from Houston, Texas. As of 2018, his televised sermons were seen by an estimate of 10 million viewers in the United States and several million more in more than 100 countries weekly. Joel has also written several best-selling books in the United States and the rest of the world.
According to him, he tries to teach Biblical principles in a simple way as he emphasizes the power of love as focuses on a positive attitude. In an interview with CBN News when asked why he does not focus more on sin, the devil, and hell, Joel said that while growing up, the devil was a reason why he had a headache or the devil was the reason he got mad. He added that people always blamed the devil.
But he thinks that when he says the enemy, he likes to make it broader. As per Joel, sometimes the enemy can be people’s own thoughts. Ther have trained themselves the wrong way. Or the enemy can be people’s own lack of discipline. Some people preach about hell like they are already going there, and to him, the Gospel means ‘Good News.’ Joel says that he would rather say God is a God of mercy.
So he thinks the people already know what they’re doing wrong, and he certainly believes in hell. But to him, when he sees thousands of people before him, it just doesn’t come out of him to say, ‘You guys are terrible, and you’re going to hell.’ He would rather say that God is a God of mercy. You’ve got to live an obedient life, but for every mistake you’ve made, there’s mercy there, and he believes people can do better.
