Joe Conason is an American liberal political commentator, journalist, and author. He founded a daily political newsletter and website called The National Memo that features breaking news and commentary. Joe serves as the Memo’s editor-in-chief. He has been serving as the editor of a nonprofit journalism center called The Investigative Fund since 2006.

Formerly, Joe served as the executive editor of the New York Observer. While there, he wrote a popular political column for almost 20 years. Before that, Joe served as a columnist for Salon.com from 1998 to 2010. Most of his articles have appeared in numerous publications around the world such as Harpers, The Village Voice, The Guardian, The Nation, The New Republic, The New Yorker, the Washington Post, and the New York Times.

As an author, Joe has published several books including 2000 The Hunting of the President and  2003 Big Lies: The Right-Wing Propaganda Machine and How It Distorts the Truth. His 2016 book is the newest and is titled Man of the World. The book focuses on the post-presidency of former USA president Bill Clinton. Joe won the New York Press Club’s Byline Award and has covered each and every American presidential election since 1980.
