Jim Cornette ( Full name: James Mark Cornette ) is an American author and podcaster. Currently, Jim serves as the host of two podcasts titled Drive-Thru and Experience. Previously, he worked as an agent, trainer, promoter, manager, color commentator, booker, and occasional professional wrestler in the professional wrestling industry.
During his former career, Jim worked for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling ( currently called Impact Wrestling), the World Wrestling Federation ( currently called WWE), World Championship Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions, World Class Championship Wrestling, Mid-South Wrestling, the Continental Wrestling Association, as well as Ring of Honor.
Jim owned and served as the head booker of Smoky Mountain Wrestling from 1991 to 1995. Also, he was the co-owner, head booker, and head trainer of Ohio Valley Wrestling from 1999 to 2005. Jim primarily focused on backstage positions during the later years of his career and transitioned away from his role as an on-screen manager.
He retired from managing in 2017. Jim served as an on-screen “authority figure” character in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and Ring of Honor during a transitional period before his retirement. In those promotions, he also held backstage positions as well. Apart from that, Jim has also had an extensive commentary career. Most recently, he served as a color commentator for What Culture Pro Wrestling, Major League Wrestling, and the National Wrestling Alliance.
