James McNerney ( Full Name: Walter James “Jim” McNerney Jr.) is a popular American business executive who worked as President and CEO of The Boeing Company from June 2005 to July 2015. Prior to joining Boeing, James served as chairman of the board and CEO of 3M. James joined 3M in 2000 following 19 years at the General Electric Company. He joined General Electric in 1982. There, James held top executive positions such as president and CEO of GE Aircraft Engines and GE Lighting; president of GE AsiaPacific; president and CEO of GE Electrical Distribution as well as Control; executive vice president of GE Capital, one of the globe’s largest financial service companies; and president, GE Information Services.
