James Dobson ( Full name: James Clayton Dobson Jr.) is an American evangelical Christian psychologist and author. He is the founder of Focus on the Family (FOTF), which he led from 1977 to 2010. James was ranked as among the most influential spokesmen in the 1980s for conservative social positions in American public life.
The New York Times called him “the nation’s most influential evangelical leader” although never an ordained minister. Slate portrayed James as a successor to evangelical leaders Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell.
