Jake Tapper is an American journalist, author, and cartoonist. He is currently the Chief Washington correspondent for CNN and hosts the weekly TV show The Lead. Tapper also hosts the Sunday morning affairs program State of the Union. Additionally, he wrote the book The Outpost, an Untold Story of American Valor about the troops in Afghanistan.
Previously, Tapper served for ABC News as Senior White House Correspondent, where he earned three Merriman Smith Memorial Awards from the White House Correspondents’ Association.
