Jack McCallum is an American novelist and sportswriter. Together with L. Jon Wertheim, he co-wrote a basketball novel, Foul Lines: A Pro Basketball Novel in 2006.
Currently, Jack serves as a Special Contributor for Sports Illustrated. Before Sports Illustrated, he served at four newspapers, including the Baltimore News-American, where he covered the Baltimore Colts in 1980.
Jack joined the staff of Sports Illustrated magazine in 1981 and became famous for his articles on the National Basketball Association (NBA). He received the Basketball Hall of Fame’s Curt Gowdy Media Award – Print in 2005.

Soon, the piece evolved into a larger project, as the Suns granted him full access to their practices and strategy sessions throughout the entire season. In November 2008, Jack announced that he had accepted a contract buyout from Sports Illustrated, however, he has continued to write pieces for the magazine as a special contributor.
