Jack Edwards ( Full name: John William Edwards ) is an American sportscaster. He currently serves as a television play-by-play commentator for the Boston Bruins on NESN. Previously, Jack worked for ESPN  as an anchor for their sports news program called SportsCenter. He worked for the network from 1991 to 2003.

He as well served as the station’s play-by-play commentator for their 2002 FIFA World Cup broadcasts, Little League Baseball,  NHL, and MLS. Also, Jack provided commentary for the Konami game MLS Extra Time 2002. He launched his journalism career by serving as a play-by-play announcer for the University of New Hampshire hockey team.

From there, Jack moved on to play-by-play and sports anchor positions at WGIR radio and also WMUR-TV based in Manchester, New Hampshire. In the early 1980s,  Jack served as a talk radio host for WRKO based in Boston. He was as well a weekend anchor at WJAR-TV based in Providence. From there, Jack proceeded to become a sports reporter at WCVB-TV based in Boston.

While working at WCVB-TV, he at the same time served as a freelance play-by-play announcer for ESPN. While there, Jack called the Davis Cup finals and Frozen Four. Also,  at the 1988 Winter Olympics, he served as a reporter for ABC’s coverage of alpine skiing5. In 1988, Jack began serving as a weekend sports anchor for Boston’s WNEV-TV/WHDH-TV. He concurrently worked for the then-CBS affiliate and called some events for the network, such as the US Open and the 1991 Olympic Winterfest.

In 1991,  Jack became ESPN’s  SportsCenter anchor and reporter. He as well announced Little League baseball from 1995 to 2002, soccer, including coverage of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, ESPN National Hockey Night from 1999 to 2003, and the X Games in 1996.
