Helen Joyce is a popular American Irish journalist and author who is the Director of Advocacy for Sex Matters. She released her book Trans: When Ideology Meets Reality in 2021. She learned as a mathematician and served in academia prior to switching to journalism. Helen started serving for The Economist as an education correspondent for its Britain section in 2005 and has since held many senior positions, such as finance editor and international editor.
In 2000 Helen joined the newly launched Millennium Mathematics Project (MMP) at the Campus of Cambridge promoting mathematics education in schools as well as other venues. For two years Helen served on an MMP project which helped mathematicians to interact directly with schools using video.
