Harry Markopolos (Full Name: Harry M. Markopolos) is a popular American Financial fraud investigator who is the author of No One Would Listen: A True Financial Thriller released in 2010. He also serves as a forensic accounting analyst for attorneys who sue companies under the False Claims Act. Previously, Harry worked as a securities industry executive and independent financial fraud investigator, who first recognized Bernie Madoff as a fraud.

He started his profession on Wall Street in 1987 as a broker with Makefield Securities, a small Erie-based brokerage. In 1988, Harry got a job with Darien Capital Management in Darien, Connecticut, working as an assistant portfolio manager. From 1991 through 2004, Harry worked as a portfolio manager at Boston-based options trading company Rampart Investment Management, finally working as its chief investment officer.

During 1999, Harry learned that one of Rampart’s frequent trading partners, Access International Advisors, was operating with a hedge fund manager who consistently offered net returns of 1% to 2% a month. Harry harshly condemned the SEC for ignoring his cautions about Madoff. Following Madoff’s acknowledgment of operating the largest private Ponzi scheme in history, he was sentenced in 2009 to 150 years in jail.
