Giselle Fernandez is an American tv journalist. She currently serves as an anchor at Spectrum News 1 SoCal and the host of a prime-time interview show on LA’s impact makers called LA Stories, an Emmy-award-winning series. Giselle anchors Your Morning News on Spectrum 1 as well.
Her early tv appearances include reporting and guest anchoring for CBS Early Show, NBC Nightly News, NBC Today, and CBS Evening News. Giselle appeared as a regular host for Access Hollywood and a guest on Dancing with the Stars. From 1996 to 1999, Giselle served as the co-host for an entertainment news program on NBC called Access Hollywood. From there, she became the co-host of the show called This Week in History on the History Channel. In October 2001, Giselle went back to Los Angeles and rejoined KTLA.
However, she left this position in August 2003 to pursue a variety of special projects such as making a movie and also writing children’s books. Her tv career started in 1983 with a brief stop at KRDO-TV based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. From there, Giselle proceeded to KEYT-TV based in Santa Barbara, California. In 1985, she became part of KTLA as a reporter and weekend anchor in Los Angeles. Giselle was recommended to the channel by actor Fess Parker, who resided in Santa Barbara. Fess was a friend of KTLA’s news managing director at the time.
Two years down the line, Giselle moved to CBS-owned WBBM-TV based in Chicago. In 1989, she joined WCIX CBS’s newly owned station in Miami. Giselle garnered some controversy in Chicago in 1988 after she went boating with John Cappas who was a drug dealer being sought by authorities. She also accompanied John to his arrest by federal agents. Giselle gained her first national news job in October 1991 after joining CBS News.
She moved to New York City and became a correspondent and backup anchor for the morning, evening, as well as weekend news broadcasts. From there, Giselle proceeded to NBC and anchored Weekend Today and the Sunday edition of NBC Nightly News. Also, she filled in for Brian Williams on the Saturday edition.
