David Zaslav is a popular American media executive who is the current CEO and president of Warner Bros. Discovery. Following becoming CEO and president of Discovery, Inc. in 2006, David oversaw changes in its channels, which largely shifted from education-oriented programming to reality television. In April 2022, David oversaw the merger of Discovery and WarnerMedia into Warner Bros. Discovery, and afterward the renaming of the streaming service HBO Max into Max.
David has been strongly condemned for his business decisions, such as removing titles from the company’s streaming platforms and canceling nearly finished projects for the purpose of tax write-offs. He began his career as an attorney with LeBoeuf, Lamb, Lieby, and MacRae in New York. He joined NBC in 1989. As president of Cable and Domestic TV and New Media Distribution, David oversaw content distribution to all forms of TV, negotiated for cable and satellite carriage of NBCUniversal networks as well as forged media partnerships.
