Damian Marley ( Full Name: Damian Robert Nesta “Jr. Gong” Marley) is a popular Jamaican DJ, singer, lyricist, and rapper. Besides, Damian is best known for being the youngest son of reggae musician Bob Marley. At the age of 13, Damian formed a musical group by the name of the Shephards, which included the daughter of Freddie McGregor and the son of Third World’s Cat Coore. The group opened the 1992 Reggae Sunsplash festival.

The band fell apart in the early 1990s, and he started his solo career. With the backing of his father’s label, Tuff Gong, Damian released his 1996 debut album Mr. Marley, which surprised many who were unaccustomed to hearing a Marley deejaying rather than singing. He released his second studio album Halfway Tree.

At the 2006 Grammy Awards, Damian won Best Reggae Album and Best Urban/Alternative Performance for Welcome to Jamrock. Damian is the only Jamaican reggae artist in history to win two Grammy Awards on the same night.
