Christine Lahti ( Full name: Christine Ann Lahti) is an American filmmaker and actress.  For the 1984 film Swing Shift, the actress was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for the Academy Award Christine had other acting roles such as And Justice for All in 1979, Housekeeping in 1987, Running on Empty in 1988, Leaving Normal in 1992, as well as The Fear Inside.

Christine won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for her directorial debut with the 1995 short film titled Lieberman in Love. Also, she made her Broadway debut as a replacement in Loose Ends in 1980. Later, Christine went on to star in the Broadway productions of Present Laughter in 1982 and also The Heidi Chronicles in 1989. Christine won a Golden Globe for the 1989 TV movie titled No Place Like Home. For her role as Kate Austin in the CBS series titled Chicago Hope from 1995 to 1999, Christine won a Golden Globe and an Emmy in 1998.

Elizabeth was a painter, homemaker, and nurse while Paul was a surgeon. Christine grew up alongside her three sisters namely Carol, Catherine, and Linda. She also had two brothers, Paul Jr., and James Lahti. Her maternal grandparents were from Austria-Hungary while her paternal grandparents were Finnish immigrants. While growing up, Christine and her family were members of the Lutheran Church.
