Chris Riddell is a famous South African-born English illustrator and occasional writer of children’s books. He has been working for The Observer since 1995 after working as an illustrator at The Economist in the 1980s.
For his writing, Riddell has won three Kate Greenaway Medals, and two of his works were commended runners-up, a distinction dropped after 2002. In addition, he was appointed the UK Children’s Laureate on June 9, 2015.
