Zuhdi Jasser is an eminent American medical doctor and religious and political commentator. He specializes in internal medicine and nuclear cardiology in Phoenix, Arizona. Furthermore, Zuhdi is a previous lieutenant commander in the United States Navy. While there, he served as a staff internist in the Office of the Attending Physician of the United States Congress. Also, Zuhdi founded the American Islamic Forum for Democracy (AIFD) with a group of American Muslims in 2003. It is located in Phoenix, Arizona. Additionally, he was one of the founders of the Center for Islamic Pluralism in the year 2004. Zuhdi is also a contributor to national and international media. He has advocated the separation of mosque and state and spoken against the ideology of Islamism or “political Islam”. Zuhdi has been a frequent guest on conservative outlets like Blaze Media, Newsmax TV, and FOX News. He has also appeared on CBS, MSNBC, and CNN a couple of times. Moreover, Zuhdi has contributed articles to nationally read newspapers such as The Washington Times, The Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, The Dallas Morning News, and The Arizona Republic. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Senate Minority Leader appointed him in March 2012 to serve a two-year term on the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.
