Brene Brown was born to her loving parents in San Antonio, Texas, in the United States on November 18, 1965. She holds American nationality and her parents are Charles Arthur Brown and Casandra Deanne Rogers. Brown grew up with three younger siblings and was baptized in the Episcopal Church. Her mother Casandra died on Christmas morning in 2023, at the age of 80.

After one year of study, Brown graduated with a Master of Social Work degree in 1996.
